Fox Host: 'Covfefe' Tweet Means Trump Has More Stamina Than Hillary

crooksandliars - Wed, 05/31/2017 - 17:38

When Donald Trump tweeted his ridiculous "covfefe" tweet last night, there were more than a few journalists concerned that maybe he'd had a stroke on the toilet while tweeting at midnight.

Many people, myself included, figured he'd delete the tweet and post what he actually intended to say shortly after sending the first.

Instead, it remained for hours, and then was deleted with this comment:

Who can figure out the true meaning of "covfefe" ??? Enjoy!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 31, 2017

Here's what we know: Trump didn't stroke out, he can't admit he made a typo, and Fox News has some of the dumbest anchors on the planet.

Here we have Jon Scott earnestly explaining why this tweet proves Trump has more stamina than Hillary Clinton, because apparently being a Fox News anchor means being a manly man ready to beat up the woman at every opportunity.

“It was a big issue during the campaign. He often accused Hillary Clinton of not having the energy, the stamina to be president," Scott assured the audience.

Former FBI Director To Testify In Public About Trump's Efforts To Stop Investigation

crooksandliars - Wed, 05/31/2017 - 17:23

Here we go, folks! Fired FBI Director James Comey has been cleared by Special Counsel Robert Mueller to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee about Trump's conversations pressuring Comey to drop the Russia investigation.

According to a CNN report, Comey has spoken privately with Special Counsel Robert Mueller to work out the parameters for his testimony to ensure there are no legal entanglements as a result of his public account. CNN also reports that Comey will have a formal interview with Mueller after he testifies before the committee.

CNN's source also told them that Comey is unlikely to be willing to discuss in any detail the FBI's investigation into the charges of possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign -- the centerpiece of the probe.

However, Comey appears eager to discuss his tense interactions with Trump before his firing, which has led to allegations that Trump may have tried to obstruct the investigation.

The source also added, "The bottom line is he's going to testify. He's happy to testify, and he's happy to cooperate."

I cannot see how this will be very good for Donald Trump. James Comey has a way of delivering devastating testimony with an earnest, believable tone. He's a giant Boy Scout, and he'll come off that way when he raises his hand and swears to tell the truth, and the whole truth.

....Advance on Desert Outpost- Second News Item

"Syrian militias fighting in support of the Bashar al-Assad regime are reportedly amassing near a small base manned by coalition forces in southeast Syria, raising concerns of a looming confrontation between ground forces technically not at war with each other, according to Military Times."
The news seems to signal that tensions between the coalition and the Assad regime are escalating in southeast Syria, where U.S. bombs struck a convoy of pro-government militants on May 18.    Over the weekend, U.S. aircraft dropped leaflets warning pro-regime militants to stay out of the deconfliction zone around the base, which is located at the Tanf border crossing between Syria and Iraq. The garrison is used by U.S. and British special forces to train two Syrian opposition groups for the fight against ISIS.U.S. Central Command officials told Military Times that hundreds of pro-regime militants have amassed in the vicinity of the deconfliction zone — which is 55-kilometers in radius — posing a “direct threat” to coalition forces at Tanf.   “These patrols are and the continued armed and hostile presence of pro-regime forces inside the deconfliction zone are unacceptable and threatening to coalition forces,” CENTCOM told Military Times. “Coalition forces are prepared to defend themselves if pro-regime forces refuse to vacate the deconfliction zone.” The US and allies are THE hostile presence
Coalition forces stationed at Tanf have been tested before. On May 18, U.S. airstrikes struck a convoy of pro-regime militants approaching Tanf, resulting in the destruction of a a tank and bulldozer. The Pentagon believes the bulldozer was being used to construct a firebase on the edge of the deconfliction zone, Military Times reports.  What will happen to the U.S.-backed Syrian groups trained and armed for the fight against ISIS after that phase of the war is over is a major point of concern for both the Syrian regime and Iran, (And Turkey) and the arrival of more pro-Assad forces in southeast Syria indicates that a fight for territory may be on the horizon.  2-Russian jets halt advance on desert outpost, says FSA
Western-backed Syrian rebels said on Wednesday that Russian jets attacked them as they tried to advance against militias in a region of Syria’s southeastern desert.

The announcement came as Syrian government troops pushed ahead in their offensive against Daesh and militants in central and northern parts of the country.

They said six jets bombed their positions as they moved towards Zaza checkpoint near Sabaa Biyar, a small town near the Damascus-Baghdad highway and the borders with Iraq and Jordan.

They identified them as Russian because they flew in formation and at higher altitude than Syrian jets.

“A sortie of Russian jets bombed us to repel our advance after we broke the first lines of defence of the militia and took over advanced positions near the Zaza checkpoint,” Saad Al Haj, a spokesman for Jaish Osoud Al Sharqiya, one of the main groups in the area said.

Haj said none of their fighters were killed. Another Free Syrian Army (FSA) official, Said Seif from the Ahmed Abdo Martyrs group, also said Russian planes hit the rebels when they began storming militia defences.

The army and allied militias captured Zaza checkpoint and Sabaa Biyar this month to stop Western backed FSA groups taking strategic ground vacated by Daesh.Related: Russia Launches Kalibr Missiles Hitting ISIS Targets Near Palmyra

3- Hurriyet News- Turkish Warning to the US, In Vain, But Correct

Regarding the arming of PKK/YPG
“Such steps are extremely dangerous for Syria’s unity and territorial integrity,” Çavuşoğlu said
“These weapons could be used against all of humanity, not just Turkey,” he added.

The statement came a day after the Pentagon announced that more arms had started to be delivered to Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), whose backbone is the YPG,
CENTCOM has been planning the Raqqa operation for a long time and Trump, occupied with a number of problems related to his power, is not likely to change all the planning due to Çavuşoğlu’s last-minute urgings.
Ankara’s last-minute warning may be in vain and will probably not yield any result, but that doesn’t mean that it is wrong.
Of course it's not wrong, nor will the resulting worsening warfare be 'blowback'- It will be the intended consequence of the US/UK meddling- The Atlantacists and their Israeli outpost making life generally miserable for an entire swathe of the globe is not a new tactic.

Strange bedfellows in Vietnam and Cambodia in the late 1960s proved disastrous. At least their destructive effect was regional, but again claimed hundreds and thousands of more lives.

A worse example was in Afghanistan. It was the U.S. idea to train and equip the Islamist tribes with modern weaponry
But it seems American strategists do not care much about the consequences or aftermath of the action they take. It would not be fair to say that Turkey is sinless in the Syrian civil war. Embracing refugees was something else but getting too involved and taking sides in the Syrian civil war was wrong. But what the U.S. is doing now is wrong as well, and it will be Turkey and other countries in the region which will suffer the consequences after CENTCOM’s soldiers pack up and head thousands of miles away. The US intends that others in the area suffer- That's the plan

Syria's Displaced Arabs Join Forces To Retake Lands from PKK/YPG

pennyforyourthoughts2 - Wed, 05/31/2017 - 14:44
Not blowback.  Rather, the inevitable response to the US annexing of Syrian territory- No one can be surprised to read the news that will be posted below.

Haid Haid from the Atlantic Council didn't need a crystal ball to know there was going to be an attempt to take back that which was stolen by the US backed PKK/YPG

From yesterday's post:  YPG/PKK to Move on Raqqa- Tribulation for Civilians to Follow
regarding Manbij "efforts to include Arabs - have been superficial and do not amount to a meaningful share in governance having no real authority,  while the ultimate power of decision rests with the Qandil-trained PKK cadres.”

Haid Haid states plainly this will be the outcome of the move backed by the US to annex Raqqa
It won't be blowback- that claim is bogus, completely bogus.
Haid Haid:  The official clearly hinted that the SDF plan to include both Manbij and Raqqa in the Kurdish-led federal government in northern Syria. A recent study by The Washington Institute for Near East Policy showed that all four major tribes of Raqqa are hostile to the Kurdish YPG and skeptical of the SDF which is likely to hinder the implementation of the SDF model in Raqqa. The study mentions locals’ concerns about a Kurdish territorial expansion at the expense of Arab tribes, mandatory conscription, arbitrary arrests, and retribution for associating with ISIS. The Arabs are hostile to Kurdish tyranny- Big surprise, right? Only if you've been eating up the msm/ alt msm slop

"A supreme council consisting of Arab tribes from different regions of Syria has decided to start a fight against the PYD, accusing the terrorist group of destroying Arabic heritage and forcing local populations to migrate in order to shift demographics in northern Syria. I've covered repeatedly the ethnic cleansing by the PKK/YPG against the residents of the region
Arab tribe leaders from northern Syria, whose lands were invaded by the PKK's Syrian offshoot the Democratic Union Party (PYD), said that they will launch military resistance against the PYD to take back their occupied lands and to end oppression against the Arab population in northern Syria. The deputy head of the Syrian Tribes and Clans Supreme Council, Sheikh Rafi er-Raco Ukla, spoke yesterday to Anadolu Agency (AA) saying that the PKK and its extensions have been trying to destroy Arabic identity on Syrian soil. In March, 50 Arab tribe leaders coming from Syria's Raqqa and the al-Hasakah and Deir Ezzor regions gathered in Turkey's southeastern province of Şanlıurfa to discuss military and political cooperation between the tribes. After the meeting, the tribes agreed to form the "Army of Al-Jazeera and Euphrates Tribes" to put an end to the invasion of their lands by Daesh and the PYD. "We are representing all Arab tribes of the country [Syria]," said er-Raco, adding that an extensive congress that also includes Iraqi tribes is planned to be held in Ankara"Can Acun, a researcher in Middle Eastern politics at the SETA Foundation for Political, Social and Economic Research told Daily Sabah that even though the Arab tribes are not likely to get quick results militarily against the PYD, supported as it is by the U.S., their initiative corresponds with the people in region, and this situation favors them in terms of long-term politics. "I believe that democracy and demographics will prevail in the long-term, especially if we talking about the post-Daesh era," he said. The sheik also called on the international community to cease their support of the PYD and its armed wing the People's Protection Units (YPG) due to human right abuses committed against Arabs in northern Syria."The PYD and the PKK are terror organizations just like Daesh. They razed the homes of the Arab population in Ras al-Ain, Suluq and Tel-Abyad," he said. El-Raco also emphasized the fact that Kurds are not the majority among city populaces such as al-Hasakah, which was invaded by the PYD. "In al-Hasakah, 65 percent of the population is Arabic. Likewise, in Raqqa, Kurds only represent 5 percent of the population. If the PYD tries to establish control over Raqqa after take it back from Daesh, we will take action. They are trying to destroy our civilization, history and culture," he said.
Israel 2.0 will turn these Arabs into the new Palestinians- Surprised that history repeats?
Turkey will be more then happy to assist these persons-  Since they share a common enemy.
How well does this bode for Syria's sovereignty? For the future of a unified Syria?

The sheik also said that those Arab groups fighting in the ranks of the PYD "pursue their own interests" and "only represent themselves, not Arab society." The PYD terrorist organization's forced migration of Arabs and Turkmens, as well as arbitrary arrests targeting critical voices and the recruitment of child soldiers, have been covered by international human rights groups, including Human Rights Watch (HRW), Amnesty International and Kurdish Watch. The PYD's acts of oppression are not confined to Arab and Turkmen populations but also target rival political voices with retaliation being taken in the form of arson, arrests and kidnappings and has been voiced as concern by Kurds in northern Syria. The Kurdish National Council (KNC) in Syria has been a critical voice against arrests and abductions carried out by the PYD.

WATCH: Reporters Burst Out Laughing At Sean Spicer's Answer To 'Covfefe' Tweet

crooksandliars - Wed, 05/31/2017 - 14:34

After Trump tweeted and then left his "covfefe" tweet up for hours without deleting or clarifying it, Sean Spicer gave a predictable response when asked about it in a rushed and uninformative audio briefing today.

One reporter asked him whether or not he should be concerned that the president left an incoherent tweet up for hours last night.

Spicer answered with a flat "no" to that question.

"Why did it stay up so long," the reporter pressed. "Is no one watching this?"

Predictably, Spicer answered, "The president and a small group of people know exactly what he meant," causing a peal of laughter to rise from the journalists in attendance.

This White House simply cannot -- cannot! -- admit an error. In fact, a very large group of us know exactly what he was trying to mean. It was the beginning of a whine about press coverage and little more.

They would like us to imagine it was some sort of intentional thing, when it was just president Orange tweeting on the toilet in the middle of the night and falling asleep, oblivious to how it might be viewed by those of us who were fully conscious.

But for Spicer and his boss, they're totally good with us imagining it to be this:

Scarborough: Trump Is Using Twitter To Create His Own Reality

crooksandliars - Wed, 05/31/2017 - 14:00

The Morning Joe crew was trying to deconstruct the organizational chaos in the White House this morning.

"You have the president going around and he wants to get rid of people that are working for him. he wants to blame people for actually the bad decisions he's making," Scarborough said.

"Ninety-five percent of his problems are all self-inflicted. So that tweet actually is pretty symbolic of a bigger problem that the White House can't solve -- because the madness starts at the top."

Nick Confessore said it's "all about his choices" and staff shakeups won't make a difference.

"And the fact that he can't be trusted with less than 140 characters is a very sad reality that the country at some point has to face," Scarborough said.

Confessore said his base likes the fact that he can get around the media.

Willie Geist chimed in. "You know, it's also that he can create his own alternative reality on Twitter, his own set of facts. The amount of pressure he's under and the investigation, it's probably intoxicating."

Scarborough said this is a guy who "always created his own reality."

"I remember back when he did "The Apprentice." He would send an e-mail around to people -- number one show this week and then you would look at it and go, I swear to God, wait, it's number 23. And I'm serious, wait, is there a demo? He created his own reality. And that's what he does now with Twitter."

Geist said he was clearly more disciplined about tweeting while on his trip, but now it's back to whatever his mood is.

Right Wingers' Outrage Over Kathy Griffin Proves They're Despicable Hypocrites: UPDATED

crooksandliars - Wed, 05/31/2017 - 13:59

Kathy Griffin has been fired by CNN for crossing the line with her Trump photo shoot.

After the news of the crude photos came out, Griffin was expectedly attacked by the entire right wing conservarazzi as well as main stream media.

She immediately posted a heartfelt apology on Twitter, but knowing how the right wing works, no apology would do. They needed a scalp to at least blunt some of the never ending news about Trump's dysfunctional administration and the many ties to Russia.

Trump went so far as to use his eleven-year old son, Barron to attack Griffin with. That's a disgusting move of epic proportions by him if you've ever watched Trump at all for any sustained period of time, but whatever.

Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!

Hannity Ignores Grieving Family's Request To STFU About Seth Rich's Murder

crooksandliars - Wed, 05/31/2017 - 13:29

Sean Hannity reached new depths of phony-baloney sanctimony last night as he blatantly disrespected the wishes of the family of murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich – and had the gall to do so while making a big show of sympathy for the Rich family.

Sean Hannity told his viewers he will not stop "investigating" or "asking questions" about the murder of DNC staffer Seth Rich despite two requests from the family that he and others stop promoting conspiracy theories about Rich's death.

Seth Rich’s brother wrote to Hannity’s producer last week:

“Think about how you would feel losing a son or brother. And while dealing with this, you had baseless accusations of your lost family member being part of a vast conspiracy,” Aaron Rich wrote in the letter to “Hannity” executive producer Porter Berry, a copy of which was provided to CNN.

“As the family, we would hope to be the first people to learn about any such evidence and reasons for Seth’s death,” he added. “It is a travesty that you would prompt false conspiracy theories and other people’s agendas rather than work with the family to learn the truth.”

Who Is Worse At Governing, Trump Or The Republican Senate?

crooksandliars - Wed, 05/31/2017 - 12:00

Donald Trump wants Mitch McConnell to end the legislative filibuster. Stopped laughing yet?

And on last night's Last Word, Jonathan Chait and Charlie Sykes (yeah don't get me started) discussed the see-saw between the Republican Congress and the so-called president who was also elected as a Republican by Republican voters and nominated by the Republican convention by winning most of the Republican delegates.

(Aside: No Tea Party rebranding for this party, ever again. It isn't "Trumpism" it's the Republican Party. Ryan and McConnell are co-conspirators.)

Jonathan Chait outlined the problem:

LAWRENCE O'DONNELL: The president tweeted again recently that he wants to get rid the 60-vote rule in the Senate. The so-called filibuster Mitch McConnell saying 'absolutely not.' What does it mean to the agenda in the Congress now that the arteries are clogged with scandal investigations in Congress?

Silly-Party Brit Calls For Death Penalty For Suicide Bombers?

crooksandliars - Wed, 05/31/2017 - 11:46

C&L readers likely know that the UKIP, the pro-Brexit party that lied their way to electoral success one time, are for all purposes the Monty Python Silly Party. And a woman who was kicked out of the Silly Party because her chief of staff inflated her expense reports (Grifting? You're kidding!) has now proposed....

...wait for it...

...that suicide bombers get the death penalty.

There is no death penalty in England, because they are a civilized country. But Janice Atkinson thinks the horrific Manchester bombing should change all that. Metro UK:

Atkinson, who was expelled from Ukip amid an expense scandal for which she was later cleared with no charge, added: ‘Many will argue that I’m calling for revenge killings, motivated by hatred. Others will argue that I’m inhumane, that we live in a civilised society.

‘Then there will be those who say that the death penalty is not a deterrent, that the warped perpetrators want in any case to die.’

‘I’m not wringing my hands trying to find answers, I’m a politician, it’s my job to come up with answers.

Answers that make no sense? Hey, we've got a party like that in the US, too! Covfefe!
