Love your title

Hahahah - love your title. In a 4 AM raid, heavily armed commandos from Israel are dropped from helicopters onto an unarmed civilian ship filled with humanitarian supplies and sailing in international waters. The Israeli gunboats and zodiacs that had been stalking it all night circled the ship. Passengers/Turkish Hamas terr-err-ists armed with slingshots, metal rods and bags of marbles brutally attacked the unsuspecting commandos as they dropped onto the ship forcing them to shoot and kill 16 and injure 20+ of them. Israeli officials regret the loss of life and they are going to have an investigation but what could they do? They had to defend themselves from this viscious and unprovoked attack.

I was going to post something myself but I have been discussing this on our Canadian FB board so have been a little lax here.

The Military Agenda

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=19447

"...
Was the Decision Taken in Consultation with Washington?

On May 26, the Israeli military (IDF) confirmed that it would confront the Freedom Flotilla in international waters, while intimating that there may be terrorist elements on board the ships:
"As part of the military preparation, the navy carried out an exercise intercepting ships and arresting passengers.
Navy Commander Major-General Eliezer Marom said the navy forces will use measures to protect the soldiers' lives and ensure that there are no terrorist elements or explosives on the ships.
Marom said he instructed the forces to act sensibly and avoid provocations, adding that the IDF had no intention of harming the hundreds of passengers on board these ships." (Israel's Military Command Says Will Stop Flotilla, but Transfer Supplies to Gaza)
It is worth noting that prior to this announcement, the IDF launched a public relations campaign, describing the Flotilla as a "provocative act":
"Head of Gaza 's Coordination and Liaison Authority, Colonel Moshe Levi convened a press conference and said that there was no shortage in food and supplies in the Strip.
"The planned flotilla to Gaza is a provocative act that is unnecessary under the existing conditions in the Gaza Strip, where the humanitarian situation is good and stable," he said, adding that Israel allows many products into the Strip, and only limits those that might serve Hamas in advancing terror activities." (Ibid)
Washington was fully aware as to the nature as well as the likely consequences of the IDF naval operation in international waters, including the killings of civilians. There are indications that the decision was taken in consultation with Washington.

The Role of Rahm Emmanuel

Obama's White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel was in Israel in the week prior to the launching of the raid on the Freedom Flotilla.
Although on a private visit, Rahm Emanuel met Prime Minister Netanyahu in high level discussions on May 26. And on that same day, the IDF confirmed the launching of a military operation directed against the Flotilla. On May 26, Rahm Emanuel also extended an invitation to Netanyahu to meet president Obama in early June following his scheduled official visit to Canada. In recent developments, Netanyahu has cancelled his US trip and is returning to Tel Aviv.

The Broader Military Agenda

It should be understood that the raid on the Flotilla also coincided with NATO-Israel war games directed against Iran. According to the Sunday Times "three German-built Israeli submarines equipped with nuclear cruise missiles are to be deployed in the Gulf near the Iranian coastline." (Israel Deploys Three Nuclear Cruise Missile-Armed Subs Along Iranian Coastline). The report tacitly presents Israel as the victim rather than the perpetrator of military threat:
"Israel’s business and defence centre, remains the most threatened city in the world, said one expert. “There are more missiles per square foot targeting Tel Aviv than any other city,” he said.
... The first [submarine] has been sent in response to Israeli fears that ballistic missiles developed by Iran, Syria and Hezbollah, a political and military organisation in Lebanon, could hit sites in Israel, including air bases and missile launchers.
The submarines of Flotilla 7 — Dolphin, Tekuma and Leviathan — have visited the Gulf before. But the decision has now been taken to ensure a permanent presence of at least one of the vessels.
The flotilla’s commander, identified only as “Colonel O”, told an Israeli newspaper: “We are an underwater assault force. We’re operating deep and far, very far, from our borders.”
... The deployment is designed to act as a deterrent, gather intelligence and potentially to land Mossad agents. “We’re a solid base for collecting sensitive information, as we can stay for a long time in one place,” said a flotilla officer.
The submarines could be used if Iran continues its programme to produce a nuclear bomb. “The 1,500km range of the submarines’ cruise missiles can reach any target in Iran,” said a navy officer.
Apparently responding to the Israeli activity, an Iranian admiral said: “Anyone who wishes to do an evil act in the Persian Gulf will receive a forceful response from us.”
Israel’s urgent need to deter the Iran-Syria-Hezbollah alliance was demonstrated last month. Ehud Barak, the defence minister, was said to have shown President Barack Obama classified satellite images of a convoy of ballistic missiles leaving Syria on the way to Hezbollah in Lebanon. (emphasis added)
While these naval deployments were underway in the Persian Gulf, Israel was also involved in war games in the Mediterraean. The war game codenamed "MINOAS 2010" was carried out at a Greek air base in Souda Bay, on the island of Crete."

Game Theory? and Rachel Corrie still on route to Gaza

I just caught a news broadcast from WGN Chicago. They had a telephone interview with Kevin Clark from the FreeGaza movement. He was explaining what happened and amazingly the broadcaster let him do so. He said they put up the white flag as soon as they realized they were not going to be able to continue. He kept repeating that they were in international waters and the Israelis had no right to board the ship. At one point he said the attack could be interpreted as an act of war. (see Craig Murray - http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2010/05/the_legal_posit.html) He also said that the Rachel Corrie from Ireland was not stopped and is continuing on to Gaza right now. He warned that the Israelis should not attack the ship. The broadcaster finally cut him off but he was able to give out a fair amount of info.

More info at the link. According to this article, they may be two more boats heading for Gaza.
http://www.wgntv.com/news/sns-ap-ml-israel-palestinians,0,2399741.story

News reports keep showing the clip released by the Israelis where the passengers are attacking the commandos that are descending onto the ship. I was wondering if there were undercover agents on board and if they may have been involved in the attack on the soldiers (of which the Israeli Navy has so conveniently supplied the video footage complete with highlights of the parts we are meant to notice). Although, AP is reporting that the ship was fired upon before the commandos were deployed to board the ship. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=105384977

An al-Jazeera journalist delivering a report before Israel cut communications said Israel fired at the vessel before boarding it. In one web posting, a Turkish television reporter on the boat cried out, "These savages are killing people here, please help" — a broadcast that ended with a voice shouting in Hebrew, "Everybody shut up!"

I read via Kenneys that there were eye witness reports that some of the passengers were killed while they lay sleeping. http://kennysideshow.blogspot.com/2010/05/israeli-massacre-on-gaza-peace...

This got me thinking that maybe this 'raid' was a targeted hit on one or more of the passengers. Muslim leader Raed Salah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raed_Salah) was reportedly on board this ship and injured in the attack.

"The Israeli Arabic-language press reported on Monday, May 31, that Raed Salah was seriously wounded on board a Gaza Flotilla ship. Anonymous IDF officials informed Haaretz that Salah was alive but offered no further details.[7] Salah was removed from the ship and questioned and faces later arrest.[8]"

Is this a 'Game Theory' event designed to provoke a response from the Arabs and give them a casus belli for starting another war with the Palestinians (or Syria/Lebanon) in front of their eventual attack on Iran?

From Haaretz: "the central story here is Israel's Arabs. If Salah is indeed among the casualties, the result could be a wave of riots led by Islamic Movement activists. Targeted provocations by Islamists and left-wing activists will now take on strategic significance. Under certain circumstances, and if both sides fail to take steps to calm the situation, this could even end in a third intifada, or Palestinian uprising. In military terms, this can be considered a "life-altering event." http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/mess-report-after-monday-s... (See also comment above from Global Research article.)

And finally, there is this bizarre bit of utter nonsense. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=105384977

A soldier identified only as a sergeant told reporters at a military briefing that the activists on board "were armed with knives, scissors, pepper spray and guns." He said he was armed only with a paintball rifle. "It was a civilian paintball gun that any 12-year-old can play with," he said. "I saw my friends on the deck spitting blood."
The high-seas confrontation was a nightmare scenario for Israel, which insisted its soldiers were simply unprepared for what awaited them on the Mavi Marmara, the ship carrying 600 of the 700 activists headed for Gaza. Instead of carrying their regular automatic rifles, the Israelis said they went in with non-lethal paintball guns and pistols they never expected to use."

According to the soldiers, they only switched to live ammo after they were attacked.
Ya right! Them stupid passengers just couldn't figure out you were just dropping in in the middle of the night for a bit of fun and games.

Targeted assassinations

Hi McJ, you wrote-
News reports keep showing the clip released by the Israelis where the passengers are attacking the commandos that are descending onto the ship. I was wondering if there were undercover agents on board and if they may have been involved in the attack on the soldiers (of which the Israeli Navy has so conveniently supplied the video footage complete with highlights of the parts we are meant to notice)

That was my thought too, McJ. The idea of these humanitarians attacking armed israeli soldiers with sticks is just ludicrous. The Israelis are well practiced in shooting unarmed civilians and everybody on board would be very familiar with that fact.
I think it safe to say that everything said by the israelis and their apologists is bullshit. How could it be anything else? The israelis would have organised a cover story first and this is it, complete with film.

So my idea of something that is a little more plausible is that the gunfire reported before the israelis descended onto the ship was to clear the deck of observers and then soldiers dressed as civilians and armed with the sticks came down first and then 'attacked' the uniformed soldiers for the benefit of the waiting cameraman.

That the israelis targeted some passengers for assassination is almost a certainty. They target the leaders/organisers. It's what they do. And to give up an opportunity to do it in this case under the cover of general mayhem is beyond possibility.

See Kawther Salam for evidence of this. Link via Twelfth Bough

Good point about the live fire

Good point about the live fire clearing the deck of observers. I have also read they used smoke bombs and sound to create fear and panic. The passenger reports coming in now are saying they did not attack the soldiers and they didn't have weapons. I have read there were some passengers who used their bodies to try and block the Israelis passage to the ship's cabin but all said this was a non violent resistance.

I haven't been able to find anything more on the hit list that KS talks about in one of her posts. It will be interesting to see a list of who was killed or injured (that is if they ever release it and then even if they do it won't likely be trustworthy). I know the Greek Captain was seriously injured and refused treatment in Israel, demanding to be flown to Greece. I wonder if he was attacking the soldiers with sticks. Also, there are conflicting reports on whether or not Sheikh Raed Salah, the popular head of the Israel Islamic Association's northern branch was seriously injured in the attack.

Ghandi has been all over this leaving lots of good links on Greenwalds post here - http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2010/05/31/israel/inde...

Greenwald also does a great job of shutting down the arguments of the MSNBC reporter in this video.

Beyond coincidence

"Eight of the nine people who were killed in Israel's attack on ships of a Gaza aid convoy were Turkish citizens and the other was Turk with American nationality, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported Thursday."

Links via AP at Twelfth Bough

This is beyond coincidence. This is a pointed message to Turkey. Turkey needs to isolate israel as much as they possibly can; declare them to be pariah state and go public with whatever dirt they have on these bastards.

Background info here- Why did Israel attack civilians in the Mediterranean?

McJ's picture

Al Jazeera is also reporting

Al Jazeera is also reporting that the nine victims killed were Turkish (Furkan Dogan being a dual Turkish/American citizen). I updated the post with the names.

It seems clear now that some of the victims were shot before the commandos even rapelled onto the deck. At least one was shot in the top of the head.

"Al Jazeera's Jamal Elshayyal, who reported from the ship during the raid, confirmed that live ammunition had been used by Israeli commandos as they stormed the ship.

He said that he witnessed some of the killings, and confirmed that at least "one person was shot through the top of the head from [the helicopter] above."

According to the Christian Science Monitor Dogan was on the top deck for pre-dawn prayers which would explain what the passengers were doing there and why the Israelis started shooting first to clear the decks.

“Furkan was my friend,” said Ali Yunusoalu, who went with Dogan for pre-dawn prayers on the top deck of the Mavi Marmar on Monday. Israeli naval boats soon approached the ship, he said, and then commandos dropped from helicopters.

“The soldiers started shooting and bombing” with bullets and percussion grenades, said Mr. Yunusoalu. “It was a big sound – you can’t hear a thing because of the noise.”

Dogan ran “everywhere” before he was killed, recalled Yunusoalu. “We were very afraid.”
http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Middle-East/2010/0603/Israeli-raid-on-Gaz...

This doesn't sound like the account of someone who was attacking soldiers. It sounds like they ran him down and repeatedly shot him in the head and chest, assassination style.
They also shot the Greek captain who can be clearly heard on one of videos calling for the passengers to stay calm and return to their cabins.

I'm not sure about the targeted assassinations and the list that was reportedly found. I haven't found any more info on that. It seems apparent that at a minimum this was a big fuck you to Turkey. And perhaps the passengers fighting back (because they happened to be on deck for prayers) and the news reporters getting livestream video out may have put a twist into plans for hitting the targets on the list. On the other hand, the Israelis may have waited for them to appear on deck knowing the Muslims would be there for prayers and therefore a good chance they would be killing Turks or that people on their list would be on the deck.

At any rate, Turkey got the message and they are angry.
The Turkish president has said that Israel's military raid on civilian aid ships bound for the Gaza Strip has caused "irreparable" damage to his country's relations with Israel, and will "never" be forgiven.

"From now on, Turkish-Israeli ties will never be the same. This incident has left an irreparable and deep scar..." http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Middle-East/2010/0603/Israeli-raid-on-Gaz...

"Turkish State Minister & Deputy Premier Bulent Arinc and a number of officials welcomed the planes which also brought back four Justice and Development (AK) Party deputies who went to Israel to help the volunteers."

Speaking to reporters while waiting for the arrival of the planes at the airport, Arinc said, "For now, diplomacy has succeeded, however, Israel will be asked within the framework of laws to pay for the murders it has committed". http://www.worldbulletin.net/news_detail.php?id=59428

I agree Turkey needs to start releasing the dirt on these psychopaths.

From this link

"Under international law, the decision to accost a civilian vessel in international waters is an "act of war". Legally speaking, Israel’s acts constitute the appropriation of the vessels and their cargo, the kidnapping of the passengers, murder or possibly even assassination, if one accepts the reports relayed by Turkish television according to which the commandos were in possession of a list of people that had to be eliminated".

Yildirm said the death toll was higher than announced. "We were given the bodies of nine martyrs, but we have a longer list. There are missing people. Our doctors handed over 38 injured, on our return they (the Israelis) said there were only 21 injured."

In his telling, activists initially wounded and captured four Israelis from a first wave that boarded the ship. A second wave of troops tried to storm the ship after the four were taken below decks.

"Twenty Turkish men formed a human shield to prevent the Israeli soldiers from scaling the ship. They had slingshots, water pipes and sticks," he said. "They were banging the pipes on the side of the ship to warn the Israelis not to get closer."

After a 10-minute standoff the Israelis opened fire."

Hiding bodies and destroying forensic evidence

This is looking much worse then the initial accounting we have been getting. I have been thinking that 9 activists killed is just not adding up to all the accounts of dead bodies I have been reading about.

Several activists said, the death toll was higher than nine, and accused the Israeli army of hiding bodies and destroying forensic evidence.

"The soldiers shot a doctor who surrendered and they threw dead bodies into the sea. We still don't know what happened to them," said Bulent Yildirim, chairman of the IHH, the Turkish charity which organised the convoy.

He said Israeli commandos had forced activists to kneel with their hands behind their backs after they stormed the flotilla, and helicopters circling overhead poured cold sea water onto them.

ErdoğanTo Israel: International Community Is "Sick Of Your Lies

Turkish Prime Minister To Israel: International Community Is "Sick Of Your Lies"
Turkish News
Wed, 02 Jun 2010 12:25 EDT

Today in a speech to the Turkish parliament, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called Israel out on the carpet over its recent murder of at least 9 peace activists. Erdoğan told Turkish parliamentarians that Israel had "massacred the innocent" and the fact that it treats civilians like terrorists shows that "it knows no boundaries". He said that since the Israeli government uses lying as state policy, the international community should conduct its own inquiry and lawfully punish those responsible.

In a clear swipe at the 62-year-old Jewish state, Erdoğan said "Turkey is not a young and rootless country" and that no one should test its patience. He said that the Free Gaza flotilla was carrying "the conscience of humanity" and Israel's actions of "pouring blood and massacring was obviously state terrorism".

Erdogan is also reported as

Erdogan is also reported as saying he is thinking of traveling himself on an aid ship to break the blockade. He also suggested he will use Turkish Navy boats to guard the next aid ships.

And the attacks on Turkey have begun already. They dared to question the actions of Israel! They dared to speak the truth about this massacre! Now, the apologists are calling for Turkey to be thrown out of NATO because they crossed the line and criticized something that Israel did. Because countries and especially Presidents and Prime Ministers, are not allowed to criticize anything Israel does. Not without paying a price.

Israeli apologist Conrad Black goes even further after suggesting that NATO ditch Turkey. He says that it's the Europeans fault that Turkey is moving towards Asia and Turkish citizens must also be banned from migrating into the European Union. And that

"The reports of Israeli military inefficiency, especially after the bungled attack on Hezbollah in 2006, are disconcerting, but the West must stop hedging and havering. Israel has the greatest claim to legitimacy of any country except the five official founders of the United Nations. It has made mistakes but has persisted nobly and has been shamefully persecuted by morally inferior regimes. Those who attack Israel must be responded to as they were by Ariel Sharon: two eyes for an eye and two teeth for one, until the persecution stops. In full and deeply respectful knowledge of the significance of the phrase, the final solution of the Israel question is and always has been its absolute, permanent and secure establishment as a Jewish state."

You can read the prison cell diatribe from this convicted criminal who also suggests that 'we' partition up Eurasia; that the US/Israel attack Iran or Israel could go it alone; that China be pressured to control North Korea or the "West’s local allies need massive anti-missile defences [and] the autonomist(sic) factions in Taiwan and Tibet, and the Uyghurs, must then be encouraged" and that the Gulf Oil leak is no big deal, they'll get it stopped and nature will clean it up (in fact it's just a good opportunity to make offshore drilling safer) at the link. http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2010/06/05/conrad-black-israels-mora...

Passengers missing

There are numerous reports that there are many more than 9 casualties. Turkish newspapers are reporting that six people are missing. One report I read said the witness saw two dead bodies and that 11 or 12 bled to death. Australian nurse Jennie Campbell reported she counted 19 dead bodies (http://www.newshoggers.com/blog/2010/06/eyewitnesses-both-activists-and-...) . Sarah Colbourne of the Palistinian Solidarity Campaign reported in a lengthy and excellent news conference yesterday that there were many people missing and they were officially asking for information on the these missing persons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swg-nFZS6so&feature=youtu.be&a

Passenger and Humanitarian Aid Foundation (İHH) President Bülent Yıldırım and passengers Yücel Köse and İdris Şimşek all reported there are passengers missing. Köse said the Israelis threw wounded passengers into the water and Şimşek said four wounded passengers were thrown overboard.

“They even shot those who surrendered. Many of our friends saw this. They told me that there were handcuffed people who were shot,” [Erol Demir] added. http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=20100606...

The İHH said the activists Çelebi Bozan, Osman Kurç and Aydın Ataç were definitely still missing.

Possible Israeli involvement in killing 7 soldiers in N. Turkey

http://www.todayszaman.com/tz-web/news-212267-suspicion-growing-about-po...
Amid the growing outrage over an Israeli attack on civilian ships in international waters that killed nine Turkish pro-Palestinian activists and wounded dozens last week, there is deepening suspicion about the possible Israeli involvement in the killing of seven soldiers in a terrorist rocket attack on a naval base in İskenderun, in the southern province of Hatay.

Turkish intelligence organizations are looking into possible connections between the two incidents that occurred on the same day only hours apart. The terrorist act was carried out by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), an outlawed organization that has been listed as terrorist group both in Turkey and in much of the international community. Analysts claim Israeli secret services may have contracted the job to the PKK to send a message to the Turkish government.

Sedat Laçiner, head of the Ankara-based International Strategic Research Organization (USAK), told Sunday’s Zaman that there are some groups in Israel actively working with the PKK using its Iranian wing, the Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan (PJAK), which has been waging a war in western Iran. He said the link is more than a simple conspiracy theory, it’s a substantiated one as some members of Mossad and retired Israeli military officers were spotted training Kurdish fighters in the northern Iraqi Kurdish region.

The fact that an attack on Turkish soldiers came on the same day Israeli soldiers attacked a humanitarian aid convoy in international waters led by a Turkish ship raised suspicions that Israel may be involved with the PKK. The fact that the Kurdish terrorist group, based in northern Iraq, announced on June 1 that they had ended their unilateral cease-fire with Turkey has reinforced the theory that Israel is somehow linked with the PKK."

"...Interior Minister Beşir Atalay emphasized that they have been investigating both attacks extensively. “We have been working hard, especially to ascertain what happened in the İskenderun incident,” he said, signaling that the government is also looking into alleged connections. Last year Atalay remarked at a party convention that he was deeply offended by the news that the Israeli army trained troops in northern Iraq.

Remarks by some Turkish politicians have also fueled speculation of a possible Israeli link with the PKK. “We don’t think the incident [İskenderun attack] was coincidental,” Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy Chairman Hüseyin Çelik said, speaking to reporters at AK Party headquarters in Ankara on Monday."

"...Laçiner goes further in saying that major terrorist incidents by the PKK that have taken place in big cities bear the footprint of Israel. “These terrorist were trained by Israeli intelligence officers on how to best penetrate cities,” he said, stressing that the Israeli government is not comfortable with the ruling AK Party in Turkey. “They want to portray the Turkish government as very much like the radical Hamas organization in the eyes of world public opinion. The PKK is a mere contractor for Israel to serve that purpose,” he explained."

free form speculation: flotilla staged?

http://wtcdemolition.com/blog/node/2810#comment-21119

what if the flotilla incident was...
Submitted by gretavo on Thu, 2010-06-03 18:31.

...staged (in whole or in part) in order to make it look like Turkey and Israel have "fallen out", in preparation for some kind of action against Iran where Turkey will in fact be assisting Israel? and what if Turkish reluctance to go along with this plan was tempered by threats to escalate the media visibility of the Sibel Edmonds-linked Turkish corruption of U.S. congresspeople with lesbians, etc. story

Interesting theory... and with H Clinton in the press pre-accusing Iran of dirty tricks to avoid their sanctions, who knows?

staged?

I've seen this idea elsewhere, too, NJT. I just can't get there, myself, though. There's a lot of downside and and I don't see much upside for the israelis to risk that. In no way do they want to give the Gazans any hope at all. And even though the aid failed to get to them, they must have been buoyed by the courageous effort of others to connect with them. And then there's all the publicity. Not to mention one of the ships named "Rachel Corrie".

So my view is that it is just smoke and mirrors to confuse what is very simple and in plain view - evil intent on destroying the earth and it's people. By their fruits you shall know them.

Yeah Right

Those doggone Jews gonna take over the world.

I'm sure some of them would like to

but it's not bloody likely. You can't fool all the people all the time.

something to spread

talk about manure and the israelis caught with their hands in it!

The video from the israelis of the flotilla attack is shown here at Twelfth Bough to be bullshit.

Armada of warships headed for Iran.

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/report-u-s-israeli-warship...
"More than twelve United States Naval warships and at least one Israeli ship
crossed the Suez Canal towards the Red Sea on Friday, British Arabic
Language newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported Saturday.
...According to the report, thousands of Egyptian soldiers were deployed
along the Suez Canal guarding the ships' passage, which included a U.S.
aircraft carrier."
"Earlier this month Israel leaked to the press that they had permission from Saudi Arabia to use their air space to attack Iran. “In the week that the UN Security Council imposed a new round of sanctions on Tehran, defence sources in the Gulf say that Riyadh has agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow corridor of its airspace in the north of the country to shorten the distance for a bombing run on Iran,” the Sunday Times reported on June 12. On June 14, the ambassador of Saudi Arabia to UK Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf issued a categorical denial of the report.
On June 17, Iran’s parliament warned it will respond in kind to inspection of its ships under a fourth round of sanctions imposed on the country by the UN Security Council. “Even if one Iranian ship is stopped for security-check, we will act likewise and thoroughly inspect any (western) ship passing through the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz,” member of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Hossein Ebrahimi said."
