Al Jazeera's Shihab Rattansi speaks with Congressmen Dennis Kucinich and Eliot Engel

McJ's picture

I wish we had journalists in NA that would conduct interviews like this! Make sure you watch the second half when he questions Engel about his support of Israel's actions in Gaza. Engel doesn't know what disproportionate force means (??!!) and Rattansi presses him for a definition.

Al Jazeera's Shihab Rattansi speaks to two congressman with very different views on the Gaza crisis.

Dennis Kucinich, Democratic member of the US House of Representatives and former presidential hopeful on why he feels Israel is violating international law with its invasion of Gaza. And secondly Eliot Engel, US congressman from New York, on why he supports the Israeli invasion of Gaza.

Mr Kucinich continues to ply

Mr Kucinich continues to ply his angle of Token Progressive to help keep the Donkey Party intact. Will Kucinich ever have the courage to follow up on his many posturings? I doubt it.

Yeah. Hamas doesn't use no

Yeah. Hamas doesn't use no "missiles."

And this is incredible indeed, to see an actual journalist at work.

No wonder

It's no wonder duhbaya and his gang of thugs wanted to (and in fact did?) bomb Al Jazeera. They don't seem to understand the "proper" role of the press. My heart weeps for the victims. If the Zionists don't want to be bothered by bottle-rocket attacks they should quit stealing land from the Palestinians that is so close to Gaza and building settlements on it. And they should quit plowing citrus and olive groves under, and. If I had a rocket launcher...

My heart weeps as well.

My heart weeps as well. It is truly a horror.

RE: Bombing Al Jazeera
I don't remember the details but wasn't there a story about Tony Blair trying to convince Dubya not to bomb Al Jazeera?
There are some good links for alternative press in this post and I have recently discovered the Palestinian Ma'an News Agency
Also, the Opinion section at www.haaretz.com has some good reading. You actually see some scathing criticism in those Op Eds unlike the pablum and spin we are fed here in North America.

Israel False Flag?

Hi Guys

MCJ thanks for your excellent posts and this example of real journalism.

I did a search for Israel False flag and came up with the link below to pics of supposed Hamas, where you can see one of the men has a star of David tatoo on his chest. How do I post pics here?

Sally: Link to your blog

Is that the correct link to your blog - it just takes me to some sponsored listings.
Should it be this one? smiling http://notcorporatetv-terror.blogspot.com/

Great job on your blog btw. Ryan Dawson's Chalkboard Video was great. What a good idea!

I recommend watching the Occupation 101 documentary that I embedded here - http://www.winterpatriot.com/node/226#comment-1868. It could be a nice addition to your Israel & Palestine section - a good primer for people who know little about the history of the Palestinian occupation.

Great video's McJ

McJ
Thanks for correcting my link typing away
I ve watched that video you posted it was excellent and incredibly sad. I'll watch the brutally sad truth over BS any day thanks. Palestinions have lived for decades with the isolation and injustice that propaganda has added to their plight.
Theres more to post on the new Israel/Palestine section of my blog and have to admit I filched that Ryan Dawson video from Big Dans blog.
Was going to post a link here to that video at his blog but it seems to have disapeared. Anyway Big Dan's blog at
http://www.bigdanblogger.blogspot.com
is getting better all the time so now might be a good time to visit.

Have reposted some of the longer movies originally on NCTV (including most of the Pilger documentaries) in divided episodes from youtube "if they are available". The reason being if you haven't the time to watch the whole video you can chew through a hell of a lot of bandwidth and then have to return and do it again to watch more. If you subscribe to NCTV with google reader or other then the whole movie is there in parts so folk can keep track of what they are watching and complete it. Im doing this myself.

Peace

Ron Paul is much more defiant and forceful

Although I have great admiration for Dennis Kucinich, Ron Paul is less hesitant to express his innermost thoughts on the war in Gaza. He is, besides McKinney, the bravest human being on capitol hill.

Watch his statement on Israel-Hamas.

Cynthia McKinney

It is good to see some truth being spoken on Capital Hill.

I always wonder if there is anyone else in the chamber when these things are said. There never seem to be camera shots of the rest of the room. I imagine him speaking to a mostly empty room. It is so different from the raucous brawling that goes on during Question Period in Canadian Parliament.

Cynthia McKinney is (most unfortunately) no longer on Capital Hill sad .
She, along with 16 other passengers including CNN reporter Karl Penhaul, were recently aboard a relief boat bringing medical supplies to Gaza. It was rammed by the Israeli navy in international waters.
Amazingly, CNN actually gave her some air time to talk about it. She used it well!! See for yourself.

Here is the picture you wanted to post.

To post a picture use the code below and add the url for the image location.
Substitute the < > symbols for the [ ] symbols. Hope that makes sense. smiling

This doesn't work if you choose Full HTML under the imput formula. I don't know why, perhaps it needs a different code but I'm sure NJT will have an answer. smiling

I started this blog NCTV in the hope that kiwis ( that's New Zealanders ) will tune into the electronic voting section should the issue come up here in the near future. I think they call that preemption.
