Turkey Protecting Border from US Middle East Remake.Turkey, Russia, Syria To Cooperate on Raqqa?

pennyforyourthoughts2 - Sat, 11/05/2016 - 15:45
Some interesting talk in this Sputnik article-
Alarmed by US plans to redraw the borders of the Middle East, Turkey's activities in Iraq, and willingness to align forces with Russia and the Syria government, are an effort to prevent Washington from realizing its ambitions, former Turkish air force commander Erdogan Karakus told Sputnik Turkiye.
"The US is trying to implement its project in the Middle East, called 'Greater Middle East,' and it's trying to use the Iraqi government to carry out this aim. However, Turkey's actions in Iraq are interfering with the US attempt to establish sole control over the whole of Iraq," Karakus said. "At the moment Turkey is trying to agree with Russia, and with the support of Russian armed forces and those of the Syrian government, to carry out an operation to liberate Raqqa. This scenario would preserve the integrity of Syria and allow the Syrian government to control large areas of territory. In turn, this will be a blow to the US Greater Middle East project."  "Otherwise, if Ankara isn't able to agree with Moscow and Damascus, it will suffer great losses. Turkey has begun to understand that and is obviously making every effort to join forces with the Russian and Syrian forces," Karakus said.
Raqqa has been covered at length in several recent previous posts:
The US Led Middle East Remake has been openly discussed here for years:

Vitaly Churkin has openly mentioned the US Middle East Remake Russia at UNSC: US Decision To Reshape Middle East is the Original Cause of Syria's Suffering

Vitaly Churkin: "The grave tragedy that befell the Syrian people is in its sixth year. In 2011, Washington and some other Western capitals decided to continue reshaping the geopolitical space of the Middle East and North Africa, which started with the US and UK criminal invasion in Iraq in 2003. Besides, both in Libya and Syria, they continued to “swing an axe”, not shunning away from the support of terrorist groups. The inevitable implications, including break-up of countries and millions of refugees, were written off as an unforeseen “irritant”"

(Not) Keeping Up with the Cardassians: The Regime's Failed Show Trial in Portland

freedominourtime - Sat, 11/05/2016 - 11:35

"A salutary experience": Residents of Cardassia give audience to a show trial.

Cardassia is a fictional planet in the Star Trek universe ruled by a totalitarian state with a court system quite similar to our own. Trials on Cardassia do not to examine the charges against the accused, since a guilty verdict is foreordained. The defendant is assigned an attorney called a “public conservator” whose role is not to represent the interests of his client, but rather to assure “the productive functioning of our courts.”

“I’m here to help you concede the wisdom of the state, to prepare you to accept the inevitable with equanimity,” one conservator explained to a bemused client unfamiliar with the system. “Whatever you’ve done, whatever the charges against you, none of that really matters in the long run…. This trial is to demonstrate the futility of behavior contrary to good order. Everyone will find it most uplifting.”

The federal conspiracy trial of Ammon and Ryan Bundy and five of their associates was supposed to follow the Cardassian script – but the prosecutors lost the plot when they encountered defendants they couldn’t bluff or bully, defense attorneys who conscientiously represented their clients, and a jury that demanded actual proof of the charges being considered.
Wallow in your failure, you smug loser.
After spending $12 million plundered from tax victims, US Attorney for Oregon Billy Williams had to wallow in his own failure when the jury acquitted the defendants of all charges but one (it deadlocked on a theft of government property charge against Ryan Bundy). This was not jury nullification – the act of refusing to apply an unjust law, or setting aside a legitimate law because of exceptional circumstances.

Had the prosecution sought a conviction on trespassing charges, it would have won – but Williams and his minions arrogantly assumed that it wouldn’t be necessary to prove every element of its case. They mistakenly believed that they were putting on a show trial, but the jury wasn’t on the same page.

In search of consolation the armored geldings from the US Marshals Service assaulted and briefly detained defense attorney Marcus Mumford when he impudently reminded trial Judge Anna Brown that in the absence of the proper warrant all of the defendants were free to leave.

“I said `if the marshals have something to say about it let’s see what orders they have, let’s see what papers they have to take [them] into custody again,’” Mumford told the media following the assault. “Next thing I know they took a hold of me and [were] talking about how I was resisting arrest. They were twisting my legs and put me to the ground and then they tased me.”One of Mumford’s putative colleagues in the criminal defense bar apparently believes that he deserved a beating.

“It’s a good result from the defense lawyer viewpoint,” sneered attorney Bob Reid in an email to Mumford and his colleagues following the not-guilty verdicts. “You all stood up to the overly arrogant prosecution and outplayed them, which is your job, and you did that very well.”
“But don’t drink the Kool-Aid which the defendants have been drinking,” Reid continued. These defendants “are not `good guys’…. Take your victory and feel great – you deserve it – but remember what it is, and what it isn’t.”

It is profoundly doubtful that Reid has ever written a snotty note of that kind to a defense attorney who obtained an acquittal for a defendant accused of an actual crime of violence – such as robbery, rape, or murder. The source of Reid’s revulsion is not the idea that a tangible crime against an individual victim remains unavenged, but rather that political offenders escaped punishment for “behavior contrary to good order.”

Mumford after being assaulted by marshals.
The protest occupation of vacant administrative buildings in the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge was a political act, not a crime of violence. It was a gesture defying the supposed authority of the federal government to put certain questions off-limits, such as this: By what supposed right does Washington claim to own most of the land in the western states, and to regulate most of the productive land that remains?

Mumford’s demand to see a warrant before surrendering his acquitted clients into federal custody was a manifestation of exactly the same commendable defiance, which is why he was on the receiving end of an immediate reprisal by tax-fed purveyors of officially sanctioned criminal violence.

For reasons that should be obvious to the unprejudiced mind, the jurors who dared to subject the federal case to critical scrutiny are also concerned about potential reprisals. Their not-guilty verdicts place the jurors in incredibly rarefied company. By becoming a prosecution-driven enterprise, the federal criminal “justice” system has effectively abolished trial by jury. More than ninety percent of federal cases end with a plea bargain, and of the remainder a comparable percentage end in conviction – not because of the strength of the federal case, but because of the Regime’s insuperable material advantages.

Decades ago, at the depth of Stalin-era tyranny, Soviet procurators were admonished to pursue a one hundred percent conviction rate. Despite the advantages attendant to a one-party state, that goal evaded those who operated the Soviet “justice” system. Given that roughly one in 212 defendants in federal trials wins acquittal, it’s clear that the contemporary US system has come much closer to achieving Stalin’s ambition that its Soviet antecedent ever did.

In his Seattle University Law Review essay “Reflections on Russia’s Revival of Trial by Jury,” John C. Coughenour, the Chief United States District Judge for the Western District of Washington, describes how Russia embraced the western model of trial by jury in the late 19thCentury, witnessed its destruction by the Soviets in 1917, and then saw its revival – however unlikely this may seem – under the rule of Vladimir Putin, who in December 2001 signed legislation mandating jury trials in all of Russia’s eighty-nine regions.

Immediately after seizing power in 1917, the Soviets “abolished the professional bar and trial by jury,” Coughenour recalls. Just sixteen years earlier, Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin praised the jury system as the “court of the street.” That was when he and his faction were the “whom,” rather than the “who.” When those roles reversed, Lenin had no compunction about disposing of the jury.

In its place the Soviets imposed an inquisitorial system of “people’s courts” consisting of one judge and six “assessors” who were locally elected after being screened by the Party apparatus. Although supposedly analogous to a jury, the assessors “became known as `nodders’ for simply nodding in agreement with the judge,” who “answered to telephonic instructions from Party officials,” Coughenour observes.

Where evidence was insufficient to achieve a conviction even under those circumstances, a judge “would usually return the case for `supplemental investigation,’ thus providing the prosecutor multiple bites at the apple,” continues Coughenour’s account. In our quasi-totalitarian system, this advantage is built into nearly every federal criminal case, in which US Attorneys front-load multiple charges, each containing draconian prison sentences, in the indictment.

Eleven of the original defendants in the Portland case succumbed to this familiar form of prosecutorial intimidation – but one of them, Ryan Payne, was emboldened by disclosures in the trial to file a motion to withdraw his guilty plea. Payne, who like Ammon and Ryan Bundy faces a separate trial in Nevada on charges arising from the April 2014 standoff in Bunkerville, entered a guilty plea as part of what is called a “global offer” dealing with both prosecutions. His federal public defender, Rich Federico, points out that the Feds did not fulfill their part of the bargain by making a plea offer on the Oregon charges.

When Payne signed the Oregon plea agreement, the Nevada plea offer was still “only in a draft format,” the motion recalls. “Notably, the entire `statement of facts’ section of the Nevada plea offer had been left blank.” It wasn’t until after Payne had signed the deal that he was told the stipulated facts to which he would be agreeing – and then given only a day to accept the deal or face a possible mandatory minimum seven-year sentence.

Political dissidents celebrate court victory over the Regime.
This arrangement, once again, brings to mind the unctuous assurances of the Cardassian “conservator” as he explains the rules of a show trial to his doomed defendant: “Whatever you’ve done, whatever the charges against you, none of that really matters in the long run.” All that mattered in that fictional dystopia was the need to vindicate the “authority” of the state. The same is true in the police states, both historic and contemporary, that inspired that science fiction allegory.

Unlike the Anglo-American adversarial system, “the Soviet inquisitorial criminal justice system neither prioritized nor emphasized the rights of individual defendants, but instead paid homage to the interests of the state,” concludes Judge Coughenour.

The same can, and should, be said of the system that routinely coughs up viscous specimens of statist arrogance like Billy Williams. To them, the most troubling aspect of the Portland acquittals is not merely the missed opportunity to demonstrate “the futility of behavior contrary to good order,” but the possibility that the “nodders” have awakened and are starting to think for themselves.

Al Baghdadi Says Target Turkey and Saudi Arabia.. "I Can See For Miles & Miles"

pennyforyourthoughts2 - Fri, 11/04/2016 - 14:35
Seriously? Can it get any more obvious that Al Baghdadi is the spokesperson for the remake of the middle east? If you can’t grasp that by now.... you have to be either intentionally or willfully dumb. Or a misdirector? Can’t say which it is?

Al Baghdadi? Psychological Operation 101 replacement for OBL.  Perhaps he'll come out on the side of the AGW (banker/green money grabber crowd) too? OBL was all concerned about human caused global warming too! Rolls eyes...

Let's get back to Al Baghdadi Imploring Followers to Target Turkey and Saudi Arabia

G & M

In his speech, Baghdadi called for attacks on Turkey and Saudi Arabia, saying the Sunni countries had both sided with the enemy in a war targeting Sunni Islam.

Islamic State fighters should “unleash the fire of their anger” on Turkish troops fighting them in Syria, and take the battle into Turkey. Is Baghdadi a Sunni Muslim Kurd????
“Turkey entered the zone of your operations, so attack it, destroy its security, and sow horror within it. Put it on your list of battlefields. Turkey entered the war with the Islamic State with cover and protection from Crusader jets,” he said referring to the U.S.-led air coalition. That  reads just like a threat that would have been issued by Ocalan himself ?!
Baghdadi also told his followers to launch “attack after attack” in Saudi Arabia, targeting security forces, government officials, members of the ruling Al Saud family and media outlets, for “siding with the infidel nations in the war on Islam and the Sunna (Sunni Muslims) in Iraq and Syria”.Reuters
TARGETING TURKEY AND SAUDI ARABIA

Islamic State fighters should "unleash the fire of their anger" on Turkish troops fighting them in Syria, and take the battle into Turkey.

"Turkey entered the zone of your operations, so attack it, destroy its security, and sow horror within it. Put it on your list of battlefields. He has now formally announced the next two targets for destabilization. Readers here have long been aware that Turkey and Saudi Arabia are marked nations. The destabilization of Turkey has been written about for 2 years already. Saudi Arabia, it’s destruction, has been written on only sporadically. I just don’t have time for it all

Mythopoeia- Abu Bakr al Baghdadi - July 2014
The US, of course, wants you to believe it is real. While the video may be a real video. My stance on this is there is NO Abu Bakr al Baghdadi.  Not a living human being. Not one individual. He is a composite. . He moves like the wind through the branches.  You hear the branches, but, not al Baghdadi. He is everywhere. He is nowhere.  He is whoever he is needed to be.Baghdadi’s background interconnects so very nicely with the US destruction and occupation of Iraq. And of course, the birthing of ISI/S! And that ain't no coincidence!

But by late 2005 he had been captured as a suspected mid-ranking figure in the anti-US Sunni insurgency. His jailers at Camp Bucca detention centre in southern Iraq have described him as inconspicuous. After his release he was recruited to the military council of the Islamic State.ISIS- A US created "stay behind" using Iraqs plundered wealth.- The roots of ISIS go back to Oct. 15, 2006, when what is known as the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) was established.-The group emerged in the ashes of the U.S.-led invasion to oust Saddam Hussein as al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) More on the creation of ISIS:  Al Qaeda + "Awakening Councils" = ISISAl Baghdadi- Mascot/Spokes Character...... Like Ronald McDonald!LinkOther cartoons criticize the alleged US aid to the rise of ISIS with its invasion of Iraq in 2003 which overthrow the regime of Saddam Hussein.
Let's go back to a post from 8 months ago
Yes, Willy Loman, It’s about Blamin’ & Framin’ Turkey & Saudi Arabia And it has been for a good long while now.A response to Scott @ Willyloman-American Everyman that turned into an entire article!

Why doesn’t it surprise me that some “peace group” was promoting regime change for Turkey?I guess the garnering of public support at the “grassroots level” had to begin sometime, somewhere- Scott caught one of these groups in action. I’m sure there are other groups in other places pushing the same nonsense. Blaming Erdogan?  It’s a fashionable thing to do.  Lots of fashion victims around. Especially when a bigger agenda is at play.  Turkey, the nation we know today, simply has to be gotten rid of. Because wrongs have to be righted and other such stupidity that will only lead to massive death, destruction and displacement.
Loved the little clip of Joe Biden in that documentary! The problem in the region is our allies- Yup, it was them that wanted Assad gone- Not the little old USA.... Oh, no the US is all about peace, sunshine, rainbows and ponies..... Let’s blame Turkey and Saudi Arabia. And that’s exactly what Biden did! Of course there is much more to read in that post

If you so choose, feel free to reread or indulge for the first time in this post:

December 23/2015: Sy Hersh: "Who Controls the Past Controls the Future......."
None the less there are some interesting aspects about  this Hersh obfuscation/demonization. I find the article sets up the parameters for future spin. The expose appears, at least partially, to be a preparatory narrative for the blow back meme.  And likely the the non cooperation between agencies narrative can also be extracted from the piece.  Recalling the same type of account presented after 9/11.

It also contains, what I consider to be, the framing and blaming of a future nation to be destabilized- Saudi Arabia. And the further demonizing of Turkey. Same as we've witnessed by the likes of Mike Whitney and other alt media darlings.: Mike Whitney- Obfuscating for NATO, AGAIN! Turkey to 'annex' Syria?  Also today's post: Sibel Edmonds Explains the Erdogan Takedown
Notice we got the same "annex" meme a short time ago with Turkey all set  to annex Mosul and create a Sunnistan" PKK Occupy 3 Assyrian Iraqi Villages- Turks to Mosul and moreYup. Mike Whitney, MoA, Zero Hedge and others had Turkey annexing everything in site!
And yet from 2015 to date Turkey's annexed no territory at all.

Only the NATO backed Kurds aka ISIS have annexed territory- and I'm the 'bad person'. The simple minded one?   Scott @ Willyloman-American Everyman  and myself seemed to be the only two pointing out these facts! How's that even possible?

And today Al- Baghdadi Says "Target Turkey and Saudi Arabia"

It was always in your face.

Turkey: No US Cooperation on Safe Zone/Border Wall Construction Continues & Raqqa

pennyforyourthoughts2 - Thu, 11/03/2016 - 09:01
Unsurprisingly the 'kurds' are willing to die to annex Raqqa!

First, what should have been obvious..

The US and Turkey are NOT WORKING TOGETHER to create safe zones for refugees

The United States is not working Turkey to create a "safe zone;’ for refugees along the Turkish-Syrian border for refugees fleeing the Syrian civil war, the Department of Defense spokesperson Adrian J.T. Rankine-Galloway told Sputnik."At this time, we are not working with Turkey at this time to create a ‘safe zone’ along the border," Rankine-Galloway said on Wednesday. "We do not think a safe zone would resolve the fundamental issues on the ground because there continues to be fighting on the ground."This is a subject that has been reported on more then once. Since the US and it's kurdish proxies are interested in annexing territory and ethnically cleansing arabs- it should seem obvious to all that creating a safe zone to impede this agenda is not in the cards.

The Turkish/Syrian border wall construction continues on..

Noticed Turkey’s wall was in the news again yesterday... Why is it the north american/european media, alt and main stream is completely ignoring the construction of the wall?
Is it so their NATO friendly dis/mis info can be pushed? If you ignore the wall construction you can allege Turkey is expansionist and out to take Syria's territory BUT a 900 km long border wall under construction, to secure their own border, seems to contradict those assertions

A YPG fighter walks along the Turkish-Syria border wall (AFP)TASS:Turkey plans to complete construction of wall on border with Syria in 2017

Middle East Eye: Turkey is just months away from completing the 900 km border wall
ISTANBUL, Turkey – Turkey plans to complete the construction of a huge, permanent wall sealing off its entire 900-km long border with Syria by early next year, the Turkish defence minister confirmed during a visit to the border on Wednesday.Fikri Isik made the announcement during an inspection tour of military personnel and installations in the southern Turkish province of Hatay on the border with Syria.“We plan to build a wall along our entire border with Syria by the first half of next year,” said Isik.He said the 900km wall would be part of Turkey’s “integrated security project”. September 28/ 2016: Turkey to Complete Syrian Border Wall Within 5 Months  August 29/2016 : Turkey’s Border Wall with Syria

Kurds Willing to Die to Annex Raqqa

And ethnically cleanse more Arabs... Which shouldn’t really come as a surprise to readers here. Remaking the middle east. Oil. Water. Electricity. Raqqa has it. The US BACKED Kurdish terrorists want it. As do their American & Israel benefactors.

Will Turkey enter Raqqa alone?

The US won't support them. But I  suspect the US wants them to enter so they will become over extended and weakened.  In other words, yes, I'm suggesting the US and their Kurdish proxies are creating the conditions for Turkey in Raqqa that could see Turkey 'get in over it's head'

Syria, Russia and Iran had better pick up the slack on Raqqa or Syria will be much worse off in the long run!  Turkey can build their border wall and defend the territory they have presently.

Kurds will be the only force, supported by the Americans, to annex Raqqa.

U.S. officials have said they hope to start an offensive against Islamic State in Raqqa within weeks, and have said that the SDF will play a big role, but Washington's ally Turkey has also insisted that it take part in the operation.

"The Syrian Democratic Forces are the only force that will take part in the operation to liberate Raqqa and we informed the (international U.S.-led) coalition forces that we reject any Turkish role in the Raqqa liberation operation," SDF spokesman Talal Silo told Reuters.Ankara is dismayed at the prominent role in the SDF played by the Kurdish YPG militia, which it sees as a front for the Kurdistan Workers Party that has waged a three-decade insurgency inside Turkey.

Since it was formed in early 2015, the SDF has seized large swathes of territory along the Syria-Turkey border from Islamic State and pushed the jihadist group back to within 30km (18 miles) of Raqqa. Link

The Kurdish forces masquerading behind the SDF brand have seized large swathes of SYRIAN territory- Notice Reuters left that important piece of information out? Which is why the territory annexed is along the Syrian Turkish border... Because it’s Syrian territory. Syria doesn’t recognize the annexation of it’s territory

Raqqa is necessary for the joining of Iraqi and Syrian territory into one unified Greater Kurdistan aka Israel 2.0

Iranian Kurds fighting in Iraq
"There is one Kurdistan," he says as the sun breaks through. "Our enemies divided us between four countries, but we want to be united. We are nationalists and want one democratic Kurdistan."
Your enemies never divided you... nice meme, but, not factual.

Iranian Kurds fight in Iraq. In Syria. Same as Turkish Kurds- fighting in Syria- all pkk affiliates

Ontario, Canada: Our Fatal Future! A Place to Live and Grow? Live Poor and Grow Broke.

pennyforyourthoughts2 - Wed, 11/02/2016 - 10:10
A peeve of mine! Likely a peeve of every resident of Ontario, Canada. Electricity Rates! Sky High!

Was talking with GreenCrow about this last week.
Penny said...
Whoooohooooo
Justin booed- yeah!
I get a sense of anger all over the place
In Ontario were getting hammered with very high electricity rates- as in ridiculous and extreme- and the irony of it all--- when the electricity that is created here is not used- Ontario pays other parties to take the electricity.
In 2013 it cost us a billion dollars

https://www.thestar.com/news/queenspark/2014/01/20/ontario_paid_1_billion_to_dump_excess_electricity_in_2013_ndp.html

greencrow said...Hi Penny:

Ontario is the home base of Ziofascism in Canada. Any wonder that issues like the electricity theft is going on?

That's right Ontario, in 2013 paid over 1 BILLION Dollars to dump excess electricity-

"Beleaguered Ontario ratepayers last year paid $1 billion to dump cheap electricity into neighbouring states and provinces, NDP energy critic MPP Peter Tabuns claims. “We’ve done the math, we found that last year (2013) Ontario subsidized power to people in the United States and Quebec and Manitoba to the tune of over a billion dollars,” the Toronto-Danforth MPP told reporters Monday.
“It is an extraordinary expense that people are carrying on their electricity bills. We think this is a broken system,” Tabuns said, adding that the cost to each of the 4.9 million Ontario ratepayers is about $220 a year.
This is not the first time that this kind of expensive power dump has been raised, including by Ontario’s auditor general. In 2012, the Council for Clean and Reliable Electricity published a paper stating that Ontario consumers subsidized out-of-province electricity buyers to the tune of $1.2 billion over the previous three years. While it costs 8.55 cents a kilowatt hour to produce electricity in Ontario, excess power was sold to five neighbouring jurisdictions — Michigan. New York, Minnesota, Manitoba and Quebec — for 2.65 cents/kwh, Tabuns said"
So readers from Michigan, New York, Minnesota, Manitoba and Quebec, you can thank people in Ontario, people like me, for subsidizing your electricity use. I'm not upset with you all. I'm disgusted and annoyed with the leadership in Ontario.( Leadership I didn't vote for choosing to formally, at the polling station, DECLINE my ballot) And I wasn't alone!

Ontario is headed for a fatal future and only ending the renewable deals can prevent it

I have a particular disdain for the army of giant wind turbines that spoil the lake shore and open fields in Ontario- Higher then the tree lines in so many places- Ruining the panoramic views of many open spaces. Killing birds. Making people sick.

Ontario was once the engine of the Canadian economy, a Triple-A-rated powerhouse commanding more than 40 per cent of the country’s GDP. Today this once-proud place is a have-not province whose credit rating is near the bottom of the pack, a loser that collects subsidies from the rest of the country.
Ontario lost its lustrous Triple-A credit rating when Ontario Hydro went out of control, ending the province’s low-price advantage, making industry uncompetitive and sinking the province in a morass of debt.Ontario’s credit rating then continued to sink, in tandem with continuing boondoggles in the energy sector that now leave Ontario the world’s most indebted sub-national jurisdiction. According to a 2012 MacDonald-Laurier Institute study by Marc Joffe, a former senior director at Moody’s Analytics, the province’s likelihood of defaulting over the next two decades is 43 per cent. But there is a way to reverse Ontario’s downward spiral, likely the only way that avoids a painful and protracted retrenchment — by righting the province’s power sector, the biggest cause by far of its ruin. And there’s only one way to right the power sector — by rethinking Ontario’s Green Energy Act and rewriting the ruinous contracts that are responsible for most of Ontario’s power woes.According to Bonnie Lysyk, Ontario’s auditor general, Ontarians paid $37 billion above the market price for electricity over the past eight years, and face an additional $133-billion overpayment by 2032. Industry and wealth-creation as a result are fleeing the province in what could become a death spiral — the more that industry leaves, in the process depriving the provincial treasury of tax revenues and the power system of sales revenues, the more that Ontario must make up the shortfalls by increasing taxes and rates on those who remain, which in turn convinces others to leave. According to an Ontario Chamber of Commerce report last year, soaring power bills are expected to shut down one in 20 businesses by 2020. Those that remain will simply avoid investing in Ontario — 40 per cent admit to having already done so. With Ontario now burdened with the continent’s highest electricity rates, and with the doubling of rates to date for most industrial customers on track to become a tripling, businesses can’t go wrong by looking elsewhere. The government’s current direction is unsustainable. But it can change direction by admitting its mistakes, rewriting the ruinous contracts it entered into and clawing back the overpayments, which amount to several times the fair market price for their power. Once Ontario industry is able to pay a competitive price for its power, industry will stay and expand in Ontario and the province will collect ever-increasing revenues from both employers and employees. With the province in recovery, its downward credit rating will reverse itself, rather than continuing a slide to the default that credit rating agencies like Standard & Poor’s now view as thinkable. Can a province unilaterally rewrite a contract that it entered into? As every one of the multinationals who entered into one of those obscenely rich renewables contracts with Ontario surely knew, the Ontario legislature has — as every legislature does — not only the power to rewrite contracts whenever it feels so justified, but has done so numerous times over its history. After the Ontario legislature rewrote a contract between government-owned Hydro One and its CEO, Eleanor Clitheroe, firing her and denying her much of the pension she had negotiated, Clitheroe sued her former employer. In a 2009 decision, the court denied her demand to have her contract honoured, beginning its Reasons for Decision by reiterating the rules of the game: “In short, the Legislature within its jurisdiction can do everything that is not naturally impossible, and is restrained by no rule human or divine … there would be no necessity for compensation to be given.” The 2009 decision was citing a century-old suit brought by the Florence Mining Co. that the Ontario Court of Appeal unanimously dismissed. Since then, the right of the legislature to unilaterally rewrite contracts has often been tested and always been upheld. When Clitheroe in 2010 asked the Supreme Court of Canada for permission to appeal the lower court’s ruling, the Supreme Court dismissed her request. If Ontario doesn’t rewrite the renewables contracts, virtually everyone in the province will suffer, now and well into the future, with the victims especially being those least able to afford the costs. If Ontario does rewrite them, the bleeding will stop and the ones to suffer, fittingly, will be those who knowingly took the risks of deals that were too good to be true.
WindOntario

There were alternatives to this nightmare- Ontario choose to subsidize this monstrosity with an eye to selling it off. All on the backs of Ontario taxpayers and ratepayers.

Remember Ontarians don't even use this electricity.

Gone are the days of beautiful Ontario….

Oh Canada?! : Law Enforcement Surveils Journalists in Canda

pennyforyourthoughts2 - Wed, 11/02/2016 - 09:35
A journalist who coincidentally has written unfavourable news items about law enforcment

Where are the phony little SJW’s? The ones who are all outraged, for purposes of mass manipulation of course- The twitter revolutionaries? Hashtag whatever?
Our freedom loving government has granted itself powers that are only associated with  tyranny. Can we really go on believing we live in a free nation? And that we are free?

This news concerns me for both the journalist and for the fact it makes quite clear Canada is not freedom loving and that it’s only an unrealistic indoctrination that keeps Canadians quiet and complacent.

"La Presse reported Monday at least 24 surveillance warrants were issued for Patrick Lagacé's iPhone this year at the request of the police special investigations unit. That section is responsible for looking into crime within the police force.

The warrants were used to track Lagacé's whereabouts using the GPS chip in his iPhone. The warrants also allowed police to obtain the identities of everyone he spoke to or exchanged text messages with during that time."The new powers that the police have to surveil Canadians are absolutely horrifying, they're basically limitless, there's very little oversight, and when that happens the system will be ripe for abuse, and this is just an example of how it's abused," said Tom Henheffer, executive director of Canadian Journalists for Free Expression."What's even more worrying about it is the fact that this is a justice of the peace who actually authorized this."In this case, Lagacé said police told him they obtained the court-authorized warrants because they believed the target of one of their investigations was feeding him information. But he said the story in question was actually first reported on by a competitor, leading him to believe the investigation was actually a thinly veiled attempt to learn the identity of his sources within the police department."To me, this was a great pretext to try to investigate a reporter who has done numerous stories in the past that have embarrassed the service,'' he said."This is a big thing in a country like Canada. Police were permitted to spy on a journalist under very, very thin motives on a secondary part of a criminal investigation.''

Montreal police Chief Philippe Pichet said Monday that investigators never violated any rules.

"We respected every law to obtain the warrant we got. We followed the rules, and the judge authorized the warrant," he said during a news conference"We respected the laws and followed the rules... The problem is, of course, the laws and the rules.

"Pichet also said the measures were necessary because it was an "exceptional situation."It's always an exceptional situation- rolls eyes
"We are very conscientious about the importance of respecting the freedom of the press. However, the [Montreal police] also has the responsibility to carry out investigations on criminal acts – even against police officers."

Prototype of Panic- Orson Welles' War of the Worlds: An Experiment in Mass Mind Control

pennyforyourthoughts2 - Mon, 10/31/2016 - 16:59
In honour of  Halloween- Let's take a walk back to 1938 and recall the radio broadcast of Orson Welles'... "War of the Worlds"

A broadcast that stands out in history as possibly the first large scale, thanks to the wide spread availability of radio, perception managing/ psychological experiment. Conducted on the unwitting masses designed specifically to understand how fear could be induced, effectively.

Image and some info borrowed from here
Radio is an altogether novel medium of communication,
preeminent as a means of social control, and epochal in its influence upon the mental horizons of men.
– Hadley Cantril, 19355
Global Research-Early “Psychological Warfare” Research and the Rockefeller Foundation

"Aware of the Dartmouth connection, Marshall encouraged the enterprising Cantril to apply to the Foundation for support. Cantril’s request resulted in a $67,000 grant for a two-year charter of the “Princeton Radio Project” (PRP) at Princeton University. There Cantril proceeded to develop studies assessing radio’s effects on audiences. In 1938 Cantril also became a founding editor of the Rockefeller Foundation-funded Public Opinion Quarterly, an organ closely associated with US government’s psychological warfare endeavors following World War Two. When the Princeton venture commenced another trained psychologist close to Rockefeller, CBS Director of Research Frank Stanton, was named PRP lead researcher but took a secondary role of Associate Director due to his position at the broadcast network. At this time Austrian émigré social scientist Paul Lazarsfeld was recruited to join Cantril. Thus Cantril, Stanton, and Lazarsfeld were closely affiliated and ideally positioned to embark on a major study involving public opinion and persuasion. The opportunity for such an analysis presented itself when CBS broadcast Orson Welles’ rendering of H.G. Wells’ War of the Worlds on on October 30, 1938. Lazarsfeld saw the event as especially noteworthy and immediately asked Stanton for CBS funds to investigate reaction to what at the time was the largest immediate act of mass persuasion in human history. Over the next several months interviews with War of the Worlds listeners were collected, provided to Stanton at CBS, and subsequently analyzed in Cantril’s 1940 study, The Invasion From Mars: A Study in the Psychology of Panic." Planned and studied to understand the full affects on the audience...
So, information gleaned could be honed, expanded and wielded, like any other weapon against it's unwitting victims

Jan @ Gnostic Media did an encore presentation of his 2015 show "Prototype of Panic"

I listened to it again. And decided Halloween 2016 was a fitting time to revisit this radio programming and the truth of it's broadcast

Closing this post with an Edward Bernay's quote that is always in the sidebar here as a reminder to myself, hopefully others,  that is behooves us all to question, always.

Edward Bernays: Perception Management it is a Reality"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society"
"Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. . . . In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons . . . who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind."
